Australian navy sailors patrolling the Kenyan coast have seized more than 1 tonne of heroin with the street value of 24.6 billion shillings on a suspicious sailing boat.
The crew from HMAS Darwin boarded a wooden boat on the eastern coast in the Indian Ocean and discovered 46 sacks of heroin hidden among bags of cement.
According to Australian broadcasting corporation (ABC), ship commander Terry Morrison says the drugs from the dhow were taken aboard HMAS Darwin and will be destroyed.
Morrison believes the drugs assist terrorist organisations through funding for violent acts and was nabbed by the Australian navy ship that is part of the global campaign against terrorism, smuggling and piracy in the Indian Ocean.
