Gor regains top Spot in the kpl

Dan2Kenya Premier League defending Champions Gor Mahia regained leadership of the league after edging out Sony Sugar 1-0 in a match that was played at Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium.

Uganda Cranes forward, Dan Sserenkuma scored the lone goal in the 69th minute from a rebound after Anthony Akumu’s free kick had bounced back off the post .the Sugar Millers goal was disallowed in the 6th meeting when Edwin Odour’s goal from Marwa Chamberi’s pass was ruled out for offside.

Earlier on Saturday Chemeli Sugar beat Thika United 2-1 in a thrilling match played at Awasi to maintain their unbeaten run so far.

Elsewhere in Machakos Kenyatta Stadium visiting Western Stima held Sofapaka to a 3-3 draw in a thrilling encounter.

Sofapaka took a two-goal lead early in the opening period thanks to goals from Enock Agwanda and John Baraza.

Stima would however level parity by the half hour mark as Fredrick Nyarombo and David Okello both found the target.

Things got better for Stima who took the lead for the first time in the match in the 40th minute when Shafiq Batambuze headed home Wesley Kemboi’s delivery.

However, their celebrations were abruptly cut short when Enock Agwanda nodded home Humphrey Mieno’s cross on the stroke of half time.

Finally KRA hit sluggish Mathare t United 1-0 with the winning goal being scored by Joseph Mulemo in the 28th minute.

Mulemo would later be sent to an early shower when he was red carded for a dangerous tackle on the Noah Abich towards the end of the match.

Still, Mathare’s late rally came to naught as the taxmen held on for all three points.
