DSC04860Members of the British royal air force will donate about 6,500 football kits worth 25,000 sterling pounds to 26 local football teams, orphanages and schools; it was announced this morning in Nairobi, industrial area.

Led by Wing Commander Neil Hope MBE, who is based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire in collaboration with Alive and Kicking, The Taking Football to Africa and Beyond Charitable Appeal, also announced that the governing body of football in England (FA) in conjunction with his organization will, in addition, donate referee’s kits in a tournament organized this coming Sunday at Braeburn school.

Director of Alive and Kicking, john Herbert, a Briton living and working in Kenya welcomed the queen’s army at the organization’s offices in industrial area and added more spices to the already good looking plate of charity by donating 100 footballs to MYSA Kenya, through sales manager Richard Gituru and country director Rose Maket.

Sarah Weber and Rachael Forster from the English Football Association accompanied the air force crew and donated England football national team tracksuits while Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers FC donated football jerseys.

Neil Hope began an appeal in 2006 with the intention of collecting unwanted football shirts to be re-distributed to the needy young footballers in Africa. After a successful launch, the Appeal branched out to worldwide deliveries and to date has delivered 75725 Items including 26318 football shirts to 43 countries.

Neil has also worked a lot in Kenya and other African countries, delivering kits and other items to schools and orphanages around Nairobi’s slum areas and Gilgil.
