A controversial government tender seeking to airlift Presidential speeches has sparked row amongst Kenyans in the social media.
The tender which was advertized in one of the local dailies by the Ministry of Local Government and Interior Coordination is looking for candidates who can airlift the president’s speech at a bond of 500,000 shillings.
This tender announcement left many Kenyans in awe with some questioning its real intentions.
Retired activist Boniface Mwangi who started the conversation wrote “ Digital director @OleItumbi save government money by opening presidentspeech@gmail.com,email the @UKenyatta speeches countrywide in a second.”
@BIWIRE noted “Kwani how heavy is the presidential speech hadi inabebwa na helicopter? I thot @OleItumbi can just carry it with ease.
Government’s digital director Dennis Itumbi however defended the tender saying the government had no choice but to airlift the speeches.
He also added that the digital team will work to develop a secure portal that will be used to relay the speeches in the near future.
