Kpl select team to tanzania

img_0237The KPL under 16 boys select team was on Saturday morning flagged off to Tanzania during a brief ceremony at Nairobi City Stadium.

The team scheduled to represent Kenya in the East Africa Cup Youth Championship in Moshi city on 24th june-29th june 2014, was selected from a pool of 32 teams from 16 constituencies of Nairobi County during the KPL,FKF Nairobi branch and CMD championship 2013 which was won by jmj academy.

The selection was organized by KPL and FKF Nairobi branch in December 2013 with a programme dubbed ‘towards accountable management of sports in Kenya.’

Center for Multi Party Democracy, executive director Njeri Kabeberi donated uniforms to the team and criticized both the government and opposition for not doing enough to develop sports among Kenyan youth.

“Both the government and the opposition are not reaching out to the public especially the youth with out political motives. They both should come out now with clean hands because Kenyans are nolonger interested in politics, but actions that will see them through tough times,” Kabeberi said.

Gordon Oluch represented the government and reminded sports men and women of the sports act that will ensure kenyan sports men and women have adequate facilties and opportunities to participate in sports.

The flagging off ceremony was officiated by representatives from the ministry of sports, culture and arts, the kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy Nairobi, and FKF Nairobi.

The program is managed through a partnership between the Center for Multi Party Democracy (CMD-Kenya), Strathmore Universtity and Sports International, supported by the Royal Dutch Embassy in Kenya with an aim to support under 16 teams that also include rugby and hockey, that can be moulded into a force that will challenge other nations for example the boys team at the 2022 world cup in Qatar.

Braight Omboko,Maurice Muya,Anthony Ogoya, Ken Tyson Ochieng,Stephen Kariuki,Enock Momanyi,Edmond Sore,Ismail Musa, Christopher Osao,Renny Sheikh,Clinton Oseko,Clinton Oduor,Abdul Ali,Evans Peter and Valdo Madegwa complete the list of 15 boys to Moshi.

The boys will be coached by former mathare united tactitian Gabriel ‘Kingi’ Njoroge assisted by Dandora Agentos coach Swara Okwangala,who during his hey days graced the Kenyan Premier League with his finess in skill and speed at AFC leopards.
