Kenya Premier league defending Champions were lucky to get a point on Sunday against a superb Tusker in a nail biting League match encounter played in Nairobi Kenya that ended 1-1.
After a barren draw in the first half, Gor Mahia were controversially awarded a penalty in the 59th minute that was converted by Dan Sserunkuma .
Video replays clearly shows that the Ugandan import dived in the penalty area with very minimal contact from defender Jockins Atudo and should have been given a yellow card, but the gods of football unfair as they always are turned the situation otherwise as the match prefect of the day Sylvester Kirwa pointed to the spot with a stun face that showed no signs of regret.
Gor should however thank the woodwork and goalkeeper Jerim Onyango who kept them in the game for at least the last 20 minutes as that goal appeared to stir up Tusker who stepped up to create havoc in K’ogalos’ hapless defense.
In the 90th minute, Gor survived a narrow scare when Tololwa’s rasping shot hit the crossbar and rebounded back to play after a thrilling move that involved the magnificent trio of Tololwa, Alwanga and Kevin Kimani.
Sofapaka remain at the summit with 43 points as they stumped their authority against relegation bound Nairobi City Stars, with Gor second with similar points but with inferior goal difference while Tusker stay third.
