Do have an open mind here; no hate speech…….A film about gay Kenyans has been banned from distribution and screening.
The film titled ‘Stories Of Our Lives’ was classified as RESTRICTED, meaning it cannot be exhibited, distributed or broadcast in Kenya because of the following reason,
- The film strongly promotes homosexual, gay or lesbian activities. There are graphic, lewd scenes of nude men caressing and engaging in deep kissing.
- High school students also engage in lesbianism and portray sex as a norm at the vulnerable teenage stage in life.
- The film depicts the country as a nation with many active homosexuals who need to be free to live their homosexual lifestyles.
- Kenya is mentioned openly and in a scene which sets in motion the bizarre expression of affection between two men: one, a Caucasian male prostitute from the United Kingdom and the other, a Kenyan with money to access forbidden love.
- The film ends with a rallying call to accept homosexuals in society since they are not going to “run” anymore.
- The film is offensive to the larger Kenyan community and representative
religions.
