Reggae Icon John Holt Dead At 69

jOHN hOLTThe Reggae industry has yet lost another Veteran Icon-John Holt. The reggae legend passed away yesterday in a hospital in London.

Holt’s manager, Copeland Forbes, confirmed the news saying the veteran reggae singer died at 2:40 am English time.

According to Urban Islandz his cause of death was not released, but John Holt has been battling some health issues for quite some time now. In June the “Stick By Me” singer did a surgery at the University Hospital of West Indies.

The Fallen legendary and the Paragons rose to fame in the late 1960s during the rock steady era. He then went on to have a remarkable solo career with hit singles such as “Stick By Me,” “Mr Bojangles,” and “Only A Smile.” In 2004 John Holt was awarded Jamaica’s fifth highest honor, the Order of Distinction.

His body is scheduled to be flown to Jamaica later this week.
