Striking teachers in Mathare and Huruma slums have turned schools into idling places following the teachers strike that has lasted more than a week now.
A shocking revelation by Ghetto Radio News showed that teachers instead of pupils had turned up in schools not to teach but to idle and tell stories.
Huruma Primary,Salama primary and Daima primary school teachers who spoke to Ghetto Radio on anonymity said they will not resume work until the current stalemate on their strike is resolved.
Bundled in groups of fours and threes the teachers go on discussing different issues from the strike to politics.
“Learning cannot go on unless government resolves the issues it has with teachers,” says one of the teachers.
“Parents can just bring their children to school, we have not stopped them from bringing them, we just will not go to class to teach them,” he adds
On Monday the teachers asked the government and politicians to cease from threats and instead solve the stalemate.
