The form one selection exercise was officially launched at the Kenya Institute of Curriculumn Development for 2014 KCPE candidates.
Over 800,000 candidates who sat for examinations last year will be seeking to secure a place in high school.
Reading a speech on behalf of the Education CS the principal Secretary Ministry of education Dr Belio Kipsang said 20,000 pupils have been selected to join National schools while 695,000 join county schools across the country.
Kaimenyi has also warned those parents and teachers who still forces students to repeat classes saying that stern action will be taken against them.
He further added that the exercise has seen pupils from public schools secure more places in secondary schools than those from private.
