A new trend of teenagers engaging in sexual activities during the popular jam sessions in Nairobi clubs has been reported.
A research conducted by a Nairobi based organization known as Usiku Sacco has revealed that teenagers between the age of 12 and 17 years attending the popular jam sessions from during weekends and holidays also use the chance to engage in drug abuse.
John Warue the Managing Director of the group says most these teenagers are influenced by the sexual dance moves they watch on TV.
Warue claims that these activities happen under the very watchful eyes of the club managers.
“We walked into these clubs and what we saw astonished us. They have sex while dancing, on the club corridors or even the pavements. When the cleaners come to clean, you are amazed at the stuff that come out… condoms, panties e.t.c,” says Warue.
A section of teenagers who Ghetto Radio spoke to concerning the reports have confirmed the claims saying they majorly happen in the washrooms and the dance floors.
“These things happen in almost all the jam sessions i have attended. The bend-over dance style is what most teenagers use to exploit their sexual desires,” says one of the teenagers.
“If you are too shy to have it on the dance floor, you simply go to the washrooms and have your moment there,” says the other.
