Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Sam Nyamweya has admitted to the uncertainty surrounding the commence date of Kenya’s top flight football 2015 season, in Nairobi on Monday.

Speaking during the launch of the season’s official ball Nyamweya said, “For now we can’t say when the league will resume. Consultations between FKF and Kenya Premier league (KPL) are still underway.”

The FKF boss was quick to add that the recent FIFA officials visit led by Ashford Mamelodi bore more fruit than was expected. In a bid to solve the much publicized open wrangles between FKF and KPL, Nyamweya poured cold water to the heated debate when he said, “we are still waiting for an official report from FIFA before we can come up with any decision.”

Nyamweya also denied the open wrangles between the two warring parties that prompted the country’s president Uhuru Kenyatta to call for peace in December 2014. “When FKF and KPL differ in opinion, it doesn’t mean we are fighting. We are just exercising our democratic rights. People/different parties disagree to agree later in order to achieve the best results for the common good,” he said, in a manner that now is highly criticized by many Kenyan football lovers as a public relations gimmick.

Despite pouring ice-cold water to the red-hot debate, it’s obvious to Kenyan football stakeholders that the football don doesn’t like to wash his dirty linen in public. It’s also rumored that the two main KPL sponsors now want to pack their bags and leave.

It’s alleged that the two warring parties’ indifference due to corruption, is hurting their good image hence bad publicity for business.

To Kenyan football stakeholders, this now means that you will have to hold your breath awaiting the final decision on when the KPL 2015 season will begin. Rumors of sponsors wanting to withdraw their lucrative packages might also mean that many will soon find themselves jobless again.
