Youths now have turned blames to the government for not arresting under-age teenagers who indulge themselves to early drinking in various pubs and in turn get into immoral behaviours.
Talking to Ghetto Radio News National Aids Control Council youth leader Teddy Munyu says under-age teenagers have a habit of crowding pubs at night drinking and when caught by police officers, they bribe the officers and no action is taken to them.
He explains that in pubs teenagers involve themselves into unprotected sex after drinking which has given room for drastic spread of HIV/AIDS amongst the youth.
“I have been arrested for under age drinking but i was never charged and i was never taken to any cell. They just told that ‘wewe kijana toa kitu kidogo‘ they don’t realise that we are vulnerable to also catching HIV because i am underage maybe HIV will just pass me and go to someone else who is 19,21,24… That’s what has been happening, that’s the misconception going on,” he said.
