Even with 4 years down the margin behind bars, Vybz Kartel still rules over dance-hall music at any given time crediting this to his endless release of singles day in day out.
The Dancehall heavyweight Deejay lyrists was feted and named “Favourite Male Local artiste” on Saturday night during the View Awards in Kingston with which his wife-Takeshi Johnson and his two sons-Little Addi and Little Vybz attended and collected the award on his behalf.
A source close to the artiste told UrbanIslands.com that Vybz was elated to know that he still have appeal on Dancehall music even behind bars.
“Addi (Vybz Kartel) is happy about the award because it’s always a good feeling to be recognized in some way shape or form for his contribution to dancehall. Kartel continue to be one of the leading deejay in dancehall despite being behind bars for four years now. It just shows that Kartel run dancehall,” the source revealed to urbanislands.com.
Born Adidja Azim Palmer on 7 January 1976 better known as Vybz Kartel is serving a life sentence parole for his murder conviction that is eligible for 35 years behind bars.
