National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has suspended operations of the public funds watchdog committee for 21 days over corruption allegations.
Muturi suspended the operations of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), headed by Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba, pending investigations into massive corruption allegations.
The Powers and Privileges Committee chaired by Kuresoi Member of Parliament Moses Cheboi has been tasked with the probe which will determine whether the accusations leveled against PAC are true.
Muturi’s ruling comes just a week after Namwamba survived a motion of no confidence against him following accusations of receiving bribes as the chair of PAC.
Last week, Muturi expressed fears over the waning image and integrity of the House.
