CRECO TRAININGConstitution and Reform Education consortium, CRECO is today pitching camp in Makueni to educate the residents on the importance of understanding the constitution.

CRECO Public Relations officer Charity Nzomo says they aim to simplify the constitution and sensitize them on its benefits through the use of local artistes.

The artistes who include thespians, djs, puppeteers, musicians and dancers are being trained by experienced performers such as Sarabi, Dj’s with a cause, Dance Into Space and the Kenya Institute of Puppet Theatre who are part of CRECO’s innovative Media Outreach Program, iMOP

Ms Nzomo says that they will be holding a Jukumu Letu showcasing event at Umaa grounds in Wote town on Saturday 21st March 2015 in the afternoon where the trained artistes will use their acquired skills to educate the public on the constitution.

She further says through the process they have been been able to receive positive feedback as the residents were able to raise issues affecting them with regards to the constitution.

They highlited water shortage and poor roads  as being the greatest challenge.

The Saturday event in Makueni is part of a series of events under the Jukumu Letu campaign that will see iMOP partners traverse the country to sensitize Kenyans about the constitution.

CRECO with support from HIVOS is implementing Jukumu Letu under iMOP which is premised on the need for citizens to establish the link between democracy, governance and basic needs and take actions to better their lives.
