The petite eloquent Inspire show presenter

The petite eloquent Inspire show presenter

MARY KINYANJUI: She is the early morning bird her voice eloquently cuts across the early morning radio waves with inspirational messages to help set the day’s tone.

The petite Inspire Show presenter speaks passionately about rape and defilement. She knows women whose lives have been destroyed by the beastly act. “A woman’s body is not public property” so she says.

If you asked Mary 2 years ago whether she would someday host her own show, she would have laughed. But today she is even willing to go for six days without food as a presenter in order to champion the rights of women.

With the Serious Request Platform Mary hopes she will tear the veil of silence worn by women who have undergone rape and take the steps of healing with them.

LYDIAH NJERI: During the week she is the Sports News Presenter giving you

your daily sports fix. Come weekend she hosts a fun gospel show called RADAH.

Her voluptuous figure contrasts her sporty nature and also the fact that she is pretty much excited about going for six straight days without food for the sake of the girl child.

As a gospel Show presenter Lydiah knows the stigma surrounding young mothers and women who have given birth out of wedlock. She knows many victims of Gender Based Violence who would rather not speak out just to keep their church ‘stature’.

To Lydiah the six day hunger strike is like a revolution because she believes the country has been waiting for the Serious Request 2013 in order to break the cycle of Gender Based Violence.

SHIIDEH: She is famously known as the Street Empress she co hosts Ghetto Radio’s Drive Show G.O.T.E.A.N.A alongside DJ Bling and Bonokodeh. The dreadlocked smooth talker who hails from Nairobi’s Eastlands area is equally upbeat about Serious Request 2013

At the tender age of 15 Shiideh was already hawking fries in Eastlands in order to make ends meet. She says she understands the predicaments of young girls from unprivileged background who miss school because of lack of food and even sanitary towels.

With her short stint in radio Shiideh has already captured a great fan base. There is a group girls and women who identify with her following her struggles in life.

She hopes to turn around the lives of many girls within the six days of hunger strike.

Help us raise 10,000 double pack of sanitary pads in 6 days! Join us from the 19th-24th December at the Hilton Square, and drop your donations #supadada
