Nakumatt opens five more branches

NAKSRegional retailers, Nakumatt Holdings, have joined Kenyans in the on-going Kenya@50 Celebrations with a symbolic opening of five retail stores.

As part of the national celebrations, Nakumatt has opened the doors to its 43rd and 44th branches located at the new Lavington Curve Mall, Nairobi and the Victoria Mall, Entebbe Uganda respectively.

Alongside the opening of Nakumatt Lavington and Nakumatt Entebbe, Nakumatt has also opened two SKECHERS Concept stores in sub-Sahara Africa at the fast growing Thika Road Mall (TRM) and The Junction Mall.

The opening of a new fully-fledged, children’s toys retailing store branded as Kids & Co by Nakumatt, will mark the fifth store opening also at Thika Road Mall.

With the opening of the branches, Nakumatt now pushes up its store network to 47 comprising of 44 Nakumatt stores, 2 Clarks, 2 Sketchers and one Kids & Co by Nakumatt store.

Nakumatt Holdings, Managing Director, Atul Shah, confirmed that the unveiling of the ultra-modern stores, had been, brought forward to coincide with the Kenya@50 Celebrations climax.

Symbolically, the openings, Shah said, mark a major milestone for the retailer which outfitted them for retail use in a record 50 days!

On the other hand, the new SKECHERS concept stores also mark a milestone, as they will be the first of a kind in Africa.

“During this festive season, we are proud to be joining all Kenyans of goodwill as we commemorate the nation’s 50th Golden Jubilee with the five store openings,” Shah said.

Notably, developed at a cost of Sh50 million, the new Nakumatt Lavington Supermarket features a variety of modern retail amenities.

The store will also be the first Nakumatt store hosting a franchised deli outlet from Délifrance the French catering franchising firm. Globally, Délifrance is one of the leaders in franchising a variety of “French style” quick service retail concepts in more than 50 countries worldwide.

At Nakumatt Lavington, Délifrance will feature a Kiosk concept offering a wide variety of French heritage bakery products.

On the other hand, the two SKECHERS store developed at a cost of more than Sh30 Million will be the first concept stores for the renowned American Lifestyle footwear retailer in collaboration with Nakumatt.

Globally, there are now over 550 SKECHERS stores in more than 50 countries across six continents. This include the company-owned locations in iconic destinations like Times Square and London’s Oxford Street, to franchised and licensed stores in countries like Kenya, Canada, Ireland, Spain and Portugal.
