Hundreds of Mathare slums residents were last night displaced after the Nairobi river broke its banks following the heavy rains that rocked the city.
The residents who live in shanties next to the river were forced to seek refuge elsewhere after their structures got flooded with water.
Sarah Lee one of the victims says majority of the area residents lost everything due to the floods.
She says they are forced to stay in the houses following their low economic status.
