It’s easy to take things for granted especially if you have a roof on your head, food on the table and clothes on your back. For some all that is more of a luxury. Apart from grappling to meet their daily basic needs, most parents have to watch their young girls either drop out of school or go for days without attending school because they cannot afford to buy sanitary towels for their girls.
Out of desperation some of these girls are forced to sell their bodies in order to buy pads. But all is not lost thanks to The CUP Foundation.
The CUP Foundation is a non-profit organization with the mission of giving dignity to girls living in challenging environments by providing menstrual cups and empowerment sessions, through a global campaign that informs of the girls’ circumstances, fights taboos associated with menstruation, and creates awareness about the benefits of using the menstrual cup.
The foundation objectives are to reach girls living in challenging environments all over the world with a cup.
A menstrual cup is a small bell shaped cup made of medical grade silicone that is used to collect the menstrual blood. The Cup if well taken care of can last up to 10 years. For more of this check out The CUP Foundation website www.thecup.org.
