Ulinzi Stars forward John Mark Makwata is the winner of the SportPesa /Sports Journalist Association of Kenya footballer of the month of April.
Makwata, who joined Ulinzi Stars from Nairobi City Stars last year, scored 5 goals and made two assists in April pushing Ulinzi to second on the KPL Table in that month. He beat Thika United’s Jackson Macharia by 4 votes to 3 from the seven—journalist panel that made the decision. Makwata was happy to have won the award.

His coach Robert Matano said that he has seen Makwata improve and says he is using him sparingly given that he is young
Makwata was awarded a gong, 50,000 shillings in cash, and a 42 inch smart televison.
On the other hand, Kester Muhanji of the SportPesa who sponsor the awards said that the awards for March and April are generating interest from more parties.
The awards for the month of May will be held next month.
