The Beijing Olympics 800m champion, Pamela Jelimo,    is confident  that  she  will successfully retain her World  Indoor gold medal in Russia, after shaking off an ankle injury.

Jelimo, who hurt her ankle in training in May, will be making her fourth appearance in the indoor circuit in Moscow.

She hopes, she has the experience to beat her opponents who include Olympic bronze medallist Yekaterina Poistogova ,2011 European indoor champion Jenny Meadows ,reigning European indoor champion Nataliia Lupu and rising Kenyan talent Nelly Jepkosgei.

Jelimo also has ambitions for the outdoor starting with the Diamond League races in May in Doha, Qatar.

Top on her priority will be a debut performance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland in August.

The 24-year-old has not competed at the Club Games partly due to injuries and strong challenge from her opponents and will be keen to prolong Kenya’s reign in the two-lap distance and follow the footsteps of her mentors Janeth Jepkosgei and Nancy Jebet Lagat  who have won gold.

Alongside Jelimo, others eyeing the Indoor circuit and a shot at the World Indoor Championships include the 3,000m champion Helen Obiri, Irene Jelagat and Milcah Chemos.

The men list has Edwin Soi, bronze medallist at the last games in Istanbul, Turkey over the 3,000m distance and Augustine Choge.
