Traders in Nairobi’s Gkomba market today clashed with Gorofani estate residents over the reconstruction of Gikomba market.
While traders of the market insisted on reconstructing their vibandas, residents of Gorofani estate which is right inside Gikomba demanded that they stop the construction which they claim caused the fire that burnt all their households.
Charles Buju the leader of the residents says over 200 families from Gorofani Estate have been sleeping in the cold due to negligence and careless construction of the traders.
Buju also blamed the city council of Nairobi and the area administration officers of colluding with the traders and allowing the careless constructions.
According to Buju all the families whose houses were burnt have been sleeping in the tents that were brought by Deputy President William Ruto.
