
Former Gor Mahia United winger Innocent Mutiso is the new chairman of Kenya footballers welfare association(KEFWA) and promises to courageously fight for the Kenya’s footballers welfare.
Mutiso emerged the winner after garnering 25 votes against his rival Bandari’s keeper Wilson Oburu who managed to get 10 votes in the association’s elections that was held today on Monday 29 june in a Nairobi hotel.
Mutiso now the takes the top seat of the local soccer to represent footballers, a position that was previously held by Nicholas Muyoti.
While giving his acceptance speech Mutiso promised to fully champion the welfare of the local soccer players saying they have been afflicted by diverse challenges in their clubs, one being their contracts terminated at inappropriate times by their employers.
“There is a wave coming,and there is also change coming, and we want to be part of that change.I also want to be part of that change. we want to set a precedent.we want to set a platform for the current players and for the upcoming players”,he said.
The officials of the outgoing office decided not to vie in this election which was presided by the Kenya National Sports Council.

James Situma is now the vice chairman of KEFWA (unopposed),Bernard Mangoli –treasurer (unopposed), secretary general – Jerry Santos (unopposed) ,john Baraza elected as the new organising secretary after getting 30 votes against 4 votes of Victor Ashinga, assistant organising sec- Dorene Nabwire, assistant treasurer –Teresa Auko while assistant secretary is now Dan Makori(unopposed).
