Police are investigating an incident in which a police officer shot himself dead in Nairobi’s Embakasi Nyayo Estate on yesterday night.
The CID officer attached to Kayole Police Station, is reported to have picked a quarrel with his former girlfriend at a bar earlier in the day before he went to her house and shot several times through the door.
Unable to get her, the man then dropped a suicide note before shooting indiscriminately causing panic in the estate.
The woman is said to have survived after escaping with her children when she sensed danger.
The officer, identified as Antony Kangu, later shot himself in the head and died on the spot while on the second floor where his body was found.
