
Motorists as well as commuters on Friday morning kept clear of the CBD ahead of Obama’s visit.
Majority of streets in the Nairobi Central Business District were deserted despite announcment by State House Spokesperson Manoa Esiupisu that Friday was a normal working day.
Major roads and highways were also clear of traffic jams as only few motorists were spotted on the road.
“It only took me less than 10 minutes to drive form Roysambu to Town. Normally, it would take 30 minutes following traffic jam experienced near Ngara,” said one commuter.
Business premises also remained closed as police patrols were heightened in the CBD.
Major roads are expected to be closed today ahead of Obama’s visit. Theu roads include Thika Super Highway, Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway.
