An argument over rent ended on a sad note Tuesday when a tenant shot his landlord in Nairobi’s South B estate the standard has reported.
The landlord had demanded that the tenant pays rent, but when he failed to, he locked his house.
This prompted the angry tenant who had arrived home late on Monday evening to whip out his pistol and shoot the landlord, who was running to safety, in the elbow.
He was rushed to hospital where he is admitted in stable condition. Police were called after the incident and disarmed the suspect.
Other tenants who were present during the confrontation took cover on hearing the gunshots, witnesses said.
Makadara OCPD Nehemiah Langat said the suspect is a licensed gun holder and had pleaded with the landlord to give him time to pay him.
“We are investigating to know what transpired to lead to the bloody confrontation in as much as the man is licensed to carry a weapon,” said Langat.
