Nganga1-320x180Neno Evangelism Ministries pastor James Ng’ang’a was yesterday released on Sh500,000 bail after he denied causing the death of Mercy Njeri by dangerous driving.

Upon his release, residents of Limuru pelted his motorcade with stones.

No one was injured, but a few vehicles were damaged.

Ng’ang’a and his three co-accused were arrested Wednesday and spent the night in the Gigiri police station cells.

Yesterday, Limuru senior resident magistrate Timothy Tanchu rejected an application by the prosecution to continue holding Ng’ang’a.

Prosecutors Alloys Kemo and Catherine Mwaniki had asked the court to allow the investigators conduct a DNA test on Ng’ang’a, saying the crime was serious.

Ng’ang’a objected to the test.

The magistrate will rule on the DNA test request on Wednesday.

Tanchu also ordered the co-accused – Simon Kuria and police officers Patrick Baya and Christopher Nzilu – released each on Sh100,000 bond or Sh50,000 bail.

The magistrate cautioned against revealing the identity of witnesses under protection.

Ng’ang’a is accused of causing the death of Njeri and injuring her husband Martin Mbugua.
