Fuata Nyayo Fire
Over 500 houses were burnt and property of unknown value destroyed after fire broke out in Nairobi’s Fuata Nyayo slums .
The fire is said to have started at around 1 pm on Tuesday in one of the houses and is said to have quickly spread to the rest of the houses which are mostly made of irons sheets and mud.
An eye witness told Ghetto Radio news that lack of access roads to the burning houses also made it hard for brigade to quickly put out the fire.
Although no one was injured, thousands of people will on Tuesday spend the night out in the cold.
