Kenya has pledged Ksh 130 million in support of the African World Heritage Fund (AWHF).
Speaking during the AWHF meeting in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta praised the role played by the Fund in promoting and preserving the continent’s unique heritage stating that African countries should encourage a good environment for cultural innovation and development.
Uhuru reiterated that Africa’s heritage remains the continents pride and legacy and hence invited the countries represented at the event to consider contributing financially to the cause of the Fund
South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma pledged $1 million (Kshs 86 million) and also accepted a request for his country to host the African World Heritage Fund on behalf of the continent
