A group of women from Korogocho slums have come up with an initiative fighting the rising cases of abortion in the area.
Dubbed Arise and Prosper Initiative,the women offer mentorship programmes and business skills to young girls who are prone to early pregnancies that have largely contributed to the many cases of abortion.
The initiatives director Rosemary Awuor says the mentorship programmes and the business skills not only equip the girls financially but also with psychological knowledge of handling male advances.
Awuor is however appealing to local brew vendors in the area to protect their children especially young girls from their customers to avoid cases of early pregnancies.
