The Nairobi county government has maintained that it will not review the new parking fee rates anytime soon.
According to County Executive in charge of Public works, Roads and Transport sector Evans Ondieki the increase is meant to decongest the city and discourage people from using the CBD as a parking yard.
He says despite promises by the county governor Evans Kidero that the fees will be reduced, Ondieki says Kidero is not solely in charge of levies for the recommendations must go through the county assembly to be approved.
This comes even as Matatu welfare association chair Dickson Mbugua promised operators that the matter was being deliberated upon by the relevant stakeholders and the Nairobi county government and a way forward will be sort.
