It was a great weekend for the Kenyan Movie industry at The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Not only did Kenya scoop 5 awards but it was ranked 2nd after Nolly wood movies beating films big wits of West and South Africa.
Thanks to the movie Nairobi Half Life, Mohamed Zain won Best Lighting Designer award,Barbara Minishi won Best Art Director award, Christian Almesberger won in the Best Cinematographer categories, and Elayne Okaya scooped the Best Make-Up Artiste accolade.Mama Duka which airs on KTN also won the Best Indigenous Language Movie award on the same night.
Apart from representing award-wise a handful of Kenyan entertainment fraternity was present at the awards. actors Sarah Hasan ,Nick Mutuma, and Nini Wacera were among the presentation panel while Ian Mbugua, David Mulwa, Catherine Kabugi, Veronica Waceke, Oyunga Pala among others were in the crowd.
This was the second Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and mostly referred to as Oscars of Africa. Congratulations for all the winners as well as those had been nominated.
