The country on Monday joined the world in celebrating the World Tuberculosis Day whose theme is “REACH THE 3MILLION”.
According to the World Health Organization, One third of the estimated 9 million people who get sick with tuberculosis each year do not receive care.
WHO indicates that these 3 million people live in the world’s poorest, most vulnerable communities or are among marginalized populations.
In 2012, there were an estimated 8.6 million new cases of TB and 1.3 million people died from TB
Over 95% of TB deaths mostly occur in low- and middle-income countries however anyone can get TB
TB is among the top 3 causes of death for women aged 15 to 44 years.
