Poaching and terrorism have been identified as major impediments towards branding Kenya as a designated tourist destination.

Tourism and Commerce cabinet secretary Phylis Kandie now says their focus is to brand Kenya as a business and ICT hub in the East African Region.

Despite concerted effort to market the tourism industry, kandie says they intend to use sports personalities as ambassadors in showcasing Kenya’s diversity to the international community.

Reiterating her sentiment Kenya Tourism Board CEO Muriithi Ndegwa said the tourism sector should focus on tapping the regional market following the launch of a singular Visa that allows tourists visit Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.

Kandie was speaking at the launch of the 3rd volume of Best of Kenya Edition by Global village publishers.
