A youth group in Kasarani has taken up the initiative to distribute free condoms to the youth in the area in a bid to curb HIV Aids.
The Dhabiti Youth Group also educates and creates awareness among the peers on the dangers of HIV Aids.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio News the group’s Secretary Samuel Kariuki says the group came up with the idea after they discovered that majority of the youth in Kasarani are sexually active.
“We get the condoms from the government health centers where they are distributed for free and take them to the door step of the youth,” he says.
He says the initiative is majorly aimed at protecting the youth from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.
He says majority of the youth who are benefiting from the programmes are those shying away from buying condoms at the counter.
“Some would prefer having unprotected sex other than be known that he/she is going to have sex by the mere fact that they bought a condom,” says Kariuki.
