The government is set to employ over 30,000 locals during the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway from Mombasa to Nairobi.
According to Transport Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau the construction which will traverse seven counties will have majority of the labourers drawn from the counties.
He says the Chinese government will only provide 400 specialists who will direct the construction with the government already released kshs 6 billion to facilitate the commencement of the construction.
He has however warned those interfering with the National Land Commission’s role of acquisition and compensation of land of prosecution or risk being charged a fine of 1 million shillings as par the constitution.
