The Senate Committee on Lands has ordered the suspension of an intended allocation of the 400 acres of land at Kanyanyooni, in Kitui County to the National Intelligence Service until it concludes probe next Tuesday.
Committee chairperson Lenny Kivuti was speaking during a meeting with the Kitui County Governor Julius Malombe and NIS.
Earlier Kitui County Senator David Musila, who had filed the matter before the House, accused the state of grabbing the parcel of land which has been registered as a trust land adding that the matter is causing tension among residents.
This is after it emerged the spy agency had paid 6,900 shillings for the plot where they intend to construct a training facility.
Kitui County Governor Julius Malombe questioned the NLC in approving the transferring the allocation.
NIS Director Samuel Otieno and Legal Officer Naftali Rono insisted that they followed the laid down procedure in acquiring the land and said they are prepared to move to court to ensure they get the contested piece of land.
