African Champions Nigeria were stunned 1-0 by Sudan in the Morrocco 2015 qualifiers while Algeria, Ivory Coast and South Africa achieved impressive away victories.
A Bakry Almadina header on 41 minutes in Khartoum gave Sudan a first Group A win and Nigeria slumped to bottom place with a solitary point halfway through the qualifiers.
Sudan started the match as rank outsiders after being well beaten by South Africa and Congo Brazzaville last month.
Mozambique also picked their first win of the qualifiers with a 2-0 over Cape Verde at the Estádio da Machava, Matola, on Saturday.
The Mambas came to Saturday’s match winless and with only two points from their two opening draws against Zambia and Niger.
Kito netted just before the half time break to give Angola the lead while Reginaldo Faite, increased the score in the second half to hand Angola a 2-0 win and end unbeaten run.
Togo also managed to collect their first three points of the Afcon qualifiers with a narrow 1-0 win over Uganda in a match played at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
Donou Kokou scored the only goal of the match in the 30th minute to hand Togo their first win of the campaign having lost to Ghana and Guinea.
Alain Gradel and Wilfred Bony each scored a goal as Ivory Coast got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win DR Congo.
Herve Renard ‘s side lost to 4-1 Cameroon in the previous match, but the win against Congo revives their hopes of reaching the next year’s tournament.
Elsewhere , Algeria maintained their 100% record as they edged closer to Morocco with a 2-0 win over Malawi.
Mali were also the big winners beating Ethiopia 2-0 in Addis Ababa also on Saturday.
Zambia and Niger played to a goalless draw on Saturday as both team are placed at the bottom of Group F and still without a victory in their three match so far.
Gabon stunned Group C leaders Burkina Faso with a 2-0 win in Libreville with the Burkinabe side suffering their first loss since the qualifier started.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored both goals in the second half.
