Detectives arrested two people who have been extorting money from prominent personalities claiming the funds would get to the burial arrangement of Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto’s daughter who died last Friday.
COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli was among those who on Tuesday were contacted by the con men to make contribution.
Other personalities who fell victims to the imposters included a chairperson of a constitutional commission, five senators at least 10 MPs and other public personalities.
According to The People Daily The two imposters who hailed from Kericho were being held at Dagoretti Police Station.
The two were arrested after Atwoli lured them to his home when they demanded for 200,000 even after being given 100, 000 shillings they had earlier asked for.
When the got to Atwoli’s home, they were arrested by the detectives they found in atwoli’s home.
The detectives recovers a book with several names of senators, MPs and other prominent personalities.
They were to be arraigned in court on Thursday.
Ruto’s daughter Emily Ruto died last week after a short illness.
