Kenyan Premier League comes to a close on 8th November with questionable defending champions’ GorMahia on the edge as Sofapaka heavily breathes behind them.

A keen eye of analysis sees Sofapaka as the deserving champions. Undoubtedly the best in football that Kenya has to offer this season second with 56 points. GorMahia, seen by many football pundits as favored defending champs, lead the log on 57 points.

The Kenyan football trend highly influenced by politics, tribalism, money and corruption might see Elly Kalekwa’s ‘Batoto ba Mungu’ unfairly muscled out of the title on Saturday.

Further analysis alleges that there involved dirty game play during the last Gor Mahia’s win against Muhoroni.Sofapaka on the other hand won fairly away to Ingwe.

“K’ogalo fans were banned before, but later a quick ruling from the big boss over turned tables,” quipped an avid KPL follower who thinks that Gor are being favored to defend their title.

Saturday’s scenario looks blurry for Sofapaka though. Hosted at Ruaraka by a Francis Kimanzi led Tusker in a game whispered by many as the game of the season.

“Kimanzi is a highly reputable coach with dignity, unlikely to allow his already glorious resume to be tainted in regards to matters of politics and corruption. I am not just sure about KRA’s Ken Kenyatta when he faces Gor Mahia in his last game of the season,” thought another analyst.

KRA 12th on the log have nothing to lose or gain in their last game against Gor Mahia in Kisumu, but expect an applause from fans for doing well on their league debut.

“I don’t trust this at all. K’ogalo’s home matches are played at Nairobi’s city stadium, why the switch?” word on the streets questioned adding, “The taxmen are led by a coach whose reputation is wanting when it comes to financial matters.”

If Sofapaka wins the KPL then Kenya will be proud to be represented by quality football at the continental level. If Gor retains their title, then Kenya still has a slippery hill to climb in trying to conquer African soccer.
