A 3 year old girl was rescued by her grandfather after the father turned violent on the little girl for allegedly playing with sewer water.
James Pumesh came to the resuce of the little girl who is a resident of Mabatini area in Mathare slums.
Pumesh told Ghetto radio news that the father whipped the child with a bucket handle leaving her with deep bruises on her back.
It is not known where the mother of the little girl was at the time of the alleged incident.
“The mother of this child-who is my daughter, has always been irresponsible, she even got married at 13 years and now she is pregnant with another child and i think this worsens the situation in terms of her safety” says Pumesh.
Meanwhile gender activist Rachel Mwikali also a Mathare resident said they are working on how to get the little girl’s bruises treated.
