Youth in Mathare are lamenting over the increase of drug and substance abuse amongst teenagers in their area.
According to Samson Ikoma, a Mathare resident, young people are abusing drugs meant for mental health facilities commonly known as white, MaC, as well inhaling petrol and illicit brew.
Ikoma says majority of them those who consume all these substances rendering them unconscious and in a state of health.
Echoing his sentiments, Peter Wainaina said these youngsters are forced to abuse drugs due unemployment.
He however said that activities such as sports and National Youth Service slum projects have significantly contributed to most youth changing their lives.
