A 17 year old girl in Kiamaiko slums is seeking justice after she was raped and impregnated by people known to her. A month later the alleged rapists then tried to forcefully make her abort.
Abdia Abdi says one of the men who raped her is her neighbour in Kiamaiko slums who has been threatening to kill her if she broke her silence about the rape.
“This guy and his friends attacked me, one of his friends held a knife against me and watched while his friend raped me. They then threatened to kill me if i told anyone,” says Abdi.
“A month later, my aunt suspected that i was pregnant, she took me to the hospital and demmanded that i do a pregnancy test which turned out positive,” she adds.
After the rapists got wind of Abdia’s pregnancy, they once again attacked, took her to a chemist in the area and forced her to take pills that were to help her procure an abortion.
“One of his friends who held a knife against me while he was raping me, accousted and beat me up and told me that i should abort the baby,” she adds.
“He then took me to a chemist in Kariobangi who gave me five different types of pills to take. I later fell unconcious and was taken to Provide Hospital,” narrates Abdia
Medical Records from Provide Medical Hospital seen by Ghetto Radio News indicate that Abdi reported at the hospital on the 4th of March and was diagnosed with soft tissue injuries and threatened abortion.
