Gor-vs-Bandari (1)Gor Mahia moved to six points at the top of standing following victory over the Dockers as Kenya Premier League resumed after three weeks break.

An Ali Abondo penalty was enough to give KPL defending Champions Gor Mahia a 2-1win over visiting Bandari FC in a top flight league match staged at the Nairobi City Stadium on Thursday.

New signing Meddie Kagere scored the match opener after 24 minutes from Michael Olunga’s pass on his full debut to give Gor a much deserved lead.

The goal came as a wake-up call to Bandari, who replied in 29th minute through Lawrence Kasadha, who reacted quickly to a rebound resulting from David King’atua’s free-kick at the edge of the box.

Despite a series of attacks from both sides, all was even at the break with the home side cheered for entertaining display.

The second half started on a high note with Olunga, who was a menace to Bandari’s defense, going down in 18-yard box after a challenge by Mohamed Shariff in 52nd minute but referee Nasur Doka was not interested.

However, eight minutes later, K’Ogalo’s resilience paid off when Olunga was brought down in the box and Doka was left with no option but point to the spot.

Former Tusker forward Ali Abondo made no mistake as his kick sent Bandari custodian Wilson Obungu the wrong way.
