National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a stern warning to Miraa transporters from the larger Meru region who flout traffic rules.
NTSA Director Mathew Munya has noted with great concerns that Miraa transporters do not obey traffic rules.
He asked them to either obey traffic rules or look for alternative ways of transporting the perishable commodity, since they are notorious for breaking traffic rules, leading to road accidents.
He further said action will be taken against the matatu sacco whose vehicle was involved in Thursday morning accident along the busy Meru – Embu highway that left eight people dead and scores injured.
The overspeeding, overloaded miraa pickups are known to have caused a number of accidents on Kenyan roads.
