Nurses at Pumwani Maternity Hospital today staged a strike following accusations of baby theft at the hospital.
The strike saw operations at the hospital paralysed leaving patients stranded and some forced to seek services in other hospitals.
Winfred Kathure was forced to move her expectant sister to another hospital after the nurses failed to attend to her due to the strike.
The nurses allege intimidation by patients visiting Pumwani Maternity who accuse them of stealing new born babies and selling them.
Nairobi County Communications Director Walter Mong’are however allayed fears of paralised operations saying the situation was under control.
