More than 700 police recruits yesteday marched to State House Nairobi demanding an address from President Uhuru Kenyatta a day after the National Police Service Commission announced fresh recruitment for officers across the country.
And more than 100 recruits from Bungoma, Mt Elgon, Trans Nzoia, Taita Taveta, Nakuru and West Pokot counties were stranded in Nakuru town, not wanting to believe that the President had changed his mind even after vowing to take “full responsibility”.
Some of them had been caught by surprise with the announcement that today’s admission to colleges had been cancelled since they had already embarked on their journey following the executive order by the President and police headquarters.
The recruits already in Nairobi vowed to report to their respective training colleges today, as had earlier been announced by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, days after the executive order was given by President Kenyatta, that the recruits should report to the colleges.
