A presiding officer in the Kabete by elections has been arrested for opting to use the manual voter identification in the voting process instead of the Electronic Voter Identification Device.
The area’s Returning Officer Esther Wanjiku says that they have opened investigations to establish the reason why the officer opted to use manual system instead of the EVID.
According to Wanjiku two people have also been arrested for voting misconduct in the area.
Meanwhile the Kabete by elections which kicked on time has been marred by a very low voter turn out.
Business went on as usual at Kabete’s Wangige market even as low voter turnout is registered in today’s by election.
“As at 11 am we had a very low turn out. As low as 21 percent,” said Wanjiku at a press briefing.
Short queues have been experienced in various polling stations despite IEBC opening the stations on time.
