First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has embarked on a mission to combat the maternal and childhood mortality in the country.
The campaign dubbed Beyond Zero aims at ending new HIV infections among children and also to reduce the number of deaths among women and children in Kenya.
The strategic framework focuses on five areas which include involving communities to address barriers to accessing HIV and other health services.
According to Dr.Nicholas Muraguri Head, National AIDS & STI Control Programme it is reported that over 5,500 women in Kenya die every year due to pregnancy related complications.
Currently in Kenya 15% of deaths among children under the age of five die as a result of HIV related infections.
